Earth Day

April 22, 2024, marks the 54th Earth Day! This important day is dedicated to taking the time to appreciate our Earth and how we can care for it.​

Plan Group is committed to treating every day as Earth Day to ensure we protect our planet now and in the future.​

In honour of Earth Day, we would like to share some of the efforts we have made towards our carbon reduction by electrifying our fleet:​

Eco-driving Practices:​

• Plan Ahead: Optimize your route to avoid detours and reduce idling.

• Observe Speed Limits: Maintain steady speeds within legal limits for better fuel efficiency.

• Anticipate Traffic: Smoothly adjust to traffic conditions to avoid sudden stops.

• Avoid Aggressive Driving: Avoid aggressive behaviours like rapid acceleration and harsh braking to minimize fuel use and emissions.

As part of our strategy for fleet electrification, we encourage our employees to practice eco-driving in their day-to-day activities.  

Best practices consist of:​

• Regular Maintenance: Service your vehicle consistently.

• Tire Pressure: Keep tires properly inflated.

• Avoid Idling: Turn off the engine during long stops.

• Reduce Load: Remove unnecessary items, such as roof racks, which can increase fuel consumption by 10 to 15%.​
  

Long periods of idling have adverse effects on the environment and the vehicle. On average, eco-driving can reduce fuel consumption by 15%. By implementing these simple eco-friendly driving habits, we can contribute to decreasing our overall greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. ​
